Object description: Best practices and examples

Object descriptions provide the semantic context AI needs to correctly interpret email content, ensuring extracted data maps to the right objects and fields during record creation in your Salesforce org. Without clear descriptions, the model may miss critical information, leading to inaccurate or incomplete records.

    Best Practices for Object Descriptions
To ensure descriptions supports accurate creation of records, follow the principles below:

    • Be succinct and business-focused: use 1–2 sentences per object, explaining what the object represents in your business, and optionally when it is used in parsing.
    • Do not mention fields or values: never use field names in descriptions and don't provide example of values (e.g. "Status = Active", "Close Date = 01/01/2025").
    • Avoid technical or implementation details: don't use API names, automations, flows, validation rules specification etc.
    • Keep objects clearly distinct: make it clear how this object differs from other objects, especially similar ones (e.g. Property vs Availability).
